I purchased a greyhound from the pet store for 5 LPs but cant find him ANYWHERE

I bought my greyhound and selected a house, I bought the dog but when I went to look for it it was nowhere to be found. I bought a water and food ball but when I tap on it my sim stand in place and doesnt do anything. Please help :/
