How do you optimise overworld travel speed regardless of team combination?

The infamous Bard Venti has a catchphrase: "Wouldn’t gliding be faster?"

I think this is only the case when you have those white booster rings. These are, however, not commonly around when traversing the overworld. But what is the fastest way to move around the overworld in Genshin impact that you can achieve without taking advantage of these booster rings that I can utilise wherever I go on the overworld?

I’m looking for a consistent method that I can apply in every region and every situation, so I’m not looking for The fastest way to move in Genshin Impact, but the most consistent method or combination of methods of movement that I can apply regardless of team combination.

Ideally, an answer would contain an order of operations such as always teleport to the nearest waypoint, always select your tallest character etc.
