Do Henri & TJ really have secret weapons in lower decks?

In Dread Nautical, the chef & bartender characters (Henri & TJ), once recruited, tell the main character that they left special equipment (weapons?) in the kitchen & bar, respectively, somewhere in lower levels. Despite replaying most of the the early levels and bringing Henri and/or TJ with me, they don’t seem to do or find anything special in kitchens & bars.

Is it just a dumb line of dialog? Is there a trick to it? Or do the weapons exist, but only spawn in lucky runs?
