I’m a Minecraft: Java Edition player, and I use the graphics mod called Optifine. It’s great, and so are the shaders that you can get for it. But I’m running into one problem that is irking (but very so)-
All usernames in the game are backgrounded in black!
Optifine is not the one doing this, but it is allowing it. Some of the shader packs I am using are causing this occurrence, and I notice that they are shading it in black, and not in transparent gray, when the name lines up with the background. It is most likely there to improve visibility, and the black background continues through blocks. Of course, this is not a problem in single player worlds, but in servers where there are either a ton of people or the NPCs are named to have long hover text over them, it gets annoying to see gigantic black blobs on my screen.
I have tried looking in the Minecraft accessibility settings and the Optifine video settings, but I found nothing that solved the problem. I also looked in the shader settings of the shaders that were causing it, namely Sildur’s Vibrant Shaders and Chocapic13’s High Performance Shaders, but I couldn’t find anything there either.
This problem is annoying mostly because those two shaders are the only ones that have a chance of running on my PC. I don’t like vanilla graphics though, and I like low-reflection shadow tracing and colored lights.
