Wikipedia app scrolls page to some random (?) place after image's description edit

Android Enthusiasts Asked on February 8, 2021

Since I am a part-time Wikipedia contributor, while reading some articles, I am also often adding (or correcting) a lot of image descriptions.

Image description editing is currently done on a separate screen (displayed after tapping of each image) and when editing is done and I am returning to the main article, I am never returned to the same place, where I was reading prior to image description adding. Main article text is always scrolled up to — I’d say — something like 3-4 paragraphs from the beginning.

So, for example, if I am reading some really long article (i.e. bio of some famous person), I am always scrolled back (up) sometimes many headings up. And I always have to scroll down, some times tapping screen even 20 times, to get to the point where I was before adding new image’s description. This is very frustrating and annoying.

Can someone else confirm this problem, or "is it only me"? Is this some kind of a feature, that I completely don’t understand, or is this a bug?
