Wrong reference style

I’m having some trouble with the reference style in my text.
I’m using Apa style but suddenly, while I was compiling the document the reference style just changed.
When I use the command cite{ref} I get a number between parentheses (1) instead of (Author, year). I’ve been trying different ways but simply it doesn’t change.
