Stack Overflow Asked by Stavros Koureas on January 8, 2021
Let’s assume that we have created a container from an image, for example, Node-Red. There are several images of Node-Red with or without modules, like python, pandas and other modules:
With Python (default)
docker run -it -p 1880:1880 -v node_red_data:/data --name mynodered nodered/node-red:latest
Without Python
docker run -it -p 1880:1880 -v node_red_data:/data --name mynodered nodered/node-red:latest-minimal
If we do not remember which one we installed how can we ensure what we installed?
Can we ensure that our container has been built with a specific image (none or latest) with the following commands?
sudo docker container ls
Can we ensure that our container has the python inside with the following commands?
docker exec -it bash
cd node_modules
ls
Can we install pandas or any other module inside a container installed via image without having pandas?
docker exec -it bash
"install my module"
My problem is that I have installed Node-Red as a container with python and python3. Some nodes require pandas and sklearn modules. Unfortunately, these modules are not contained in Node-Red image and I am looking for a way to install them inside the container.
Once I attach the bash on the container with root user, I can execute the following command:
pip install pandas
But I get a huge error:
ERROR: Command errored out with exit status 1:
