What is the revenue cost of the company?

I am analysing the 10-K form of an entertainment company. I would like to know, what are the revenue costs? For a service company, do expenses equal costs of revenue? Since for example in other 10-K forms, like the one for pinterest:

This one includes its cost of revenue.

Also, since the expenses are higher than the revenue, does this mean that the company has lost money for that year?
