Using colorama in ArcMap Python Window

I want use the Python colorama module to add colour to the output text of my scripts in ArcMap so that they are easier to read. The problem I have is that while colorama works at command line, it does not work within the Python Window of ArcMap.

I don’t get an error message but ArcMap simply ignore the ANSI sequences. Here is the output within ArcMap:

Are there any alternatives to using colorama?
