How to calculate the area of multiple polygons and show it in another feature in ArcGIS?

I am trying to calculate the area of vegetation (A) per municipality (B) for all state (645 municipalities). How to do it respecting the boundaries of each polygon (B)? The total area per municipality should appear in the B layer. I tried something using the spatial join tool, but there is no option for areas. I can calculate the number of polygons, but no the area.
