Bring buildings from one CityGML-dataset to same planar level

I need an idea of how to bring the buildings of a raw CityGML-dataset to one planar level. What I can is writing a javascript, which goes through the xml and substract the relevant heights but… maybe there are already solutions/tools/workflows?
